We use lots of water in the bathroom, so it’s a great place to start saving water. These tips will show you how.

The bathroom is where we use more water than anywhere any else in the home – which means there are lots of ways to use less water. Read on for our top tips…

Swap baths for showers

You don’t have to give up baths entirely, but if you’re a regular bather you could see a big reduction in your bills if you cut down on soaking in the tub. Try a quick shower instead to save on water and energy bills.

Watch out for a leaky loo

Drips or trickles down the back of the toilet are common in modern dual flush systems, but they can be hard to spot. A leaky loo wastes up to 400 litres of water a day, adding £100s to your water bill.

Remember to use the right button on your dual flush

If your toilet has a dual flush, make sure you use the right button. The smaller button uses less water and should be used when you’re just flushing a wee.

Taps off when brushing teeth

It's a no-brainer for saving water, but you'd be surprised at how many people still leave the tap running while they brush their teeth. Kids are particularly bad for this, so make sure you keep reminding them.

Try the four-minute shower challenge

Keep it short and sweet in the shower and you’ll save water as well as cutting the cost of heating the water. See if you can be done in four minutes, about the length of a pop song.
